‘I just want to renegotiate’ — Megan Thee Stallion calls out record label over contract dispute

Megan Pete, US rapper better known as Megan Thee Stallion, has called out 1501 Certified Entertainment, her record label, for allegedly refusing to renegotiate her contract.

The ‘Hot Girl Summer’ crooner also accused the record label of blocking the release of her already completed album.

Meghan brought these accusations to light in a recent video —  which has now gone viral.

She said she had hoped to release her forthcoming project ‘Suga’ in May, but the planned release was frozen on account of her scuffle with the label.

The talented rapper also said she had not understood the terms to which she was agreeing when she had signed with the record company years ago, adding that she was “very young” at the time.

“It’s really crazy because all I did was ask to renegotiate my contract. And then it became a big old thing. When I signed, I didn’t really know what was in my contract. I was young,” she said.

“I wasn’t upset [with 1501], because I was thinking, ‘everybody cool, we are all family, it’s cool. let me just ask to renegotiate my contract.’

“So now they telling a b**ch that she can’t drop no music. It’s really just a greedy game. I wasn’t trying to leave the label, I wasn’t trying to give anybody money that they feel like they entitled to.

“I just wanted to renegotiate some s**t. I’m not a greedy person. I’m not a person that likes confrontation. I work with everybody. I’m nice. I’m really family-oriented.

“It might seem good, it might sound good, but you definitely got to read [your contract]. Read all that s**t. Don’t sign that without a lawyer and get your own lawyer, with their own opinion.”

Megan Thee Stallion had made the headlines in February, after a mugshot of her — which was widely believed to have been taken by the police when she was arrested in 2015 — went viral on social media.
